This week's stats

8 teams still in contention

7 eliminations

5 Grand Finals this weekend

1 Concord derby

1 team went straight to Grand Final and have this week off

Grand Finals last weekend. The WIL/1 GF was a heartstopping cracker of a game, the girls went down 2-nil, but the score does not reflect how hard they worked right up until the last minute. Congratulations to Minor Premiers Balmain, they have some great players, but we were all proud of our team. The 14/3 Grand Final, Concord were playing Strathfield who last beat them 5-0. We started strong and were 1-0 up. Strathfield converted some good goals while Concord kept creating good opportunities but could not land that killer blow. They never gave up, right up until the last whistle. The score landed at 3-1. Well done both Concord teams!

Looking forward to the Grand Finals this weekend. We have a Concord Derby Grand Final and we can safely say Concord has that one in the bag. Lots of friendly rivalry between these two teams, but both of course want to win. Should be a great game!

The U15/1G had a shock loss in round 1, but bounced back to win last week's Round 2 with a convincing 2-nil win against Balmain, and meet Hurlstone Park again this weekend. This time Hurlstone Park won't have the homeground advantage as the match is at Rudd Park. Good luck team!

The 16/2, AA12 were both Minor Premiers and went straight into the Grand Final, skipping round 2, and are the favourites to bring home the silverware. The 35/4 placed second in the competition, but beat Five Dock 1-3 in round 1 of the finals to advance to the GF directly. They meet Five Dock again Saturday.

We have 2 teams in Round 2 of the finals - 21/3 have the week off and the 15/2 meet Earlwood. Concord have played Earlwood twice, winning one apiece. Should be a great game. Good luck gents.

Commiserations to El Presidente who has a meeting with his English boss today. That's not going to be fun.
